The 17-member trumpet choir, renowned for its virtuoso musicianship and immense external beauty, will perform its popular bread-and-butter numbers at the opening ceremony, but not only that - with a rendition of the legendary song "Kalkar", the legendary parody film of the same name, which is 45 years old this year, will also be brought to life on screen.
The rotating concert-performance is dedicated to Päratrust, a punk ensemble and underground film studio from 1979-1983, whose members, led by Hardi Volmer, will receive this year's HÕFF Award of Thanks.
"Let's sound the trumpets and hope Volmer doesn't go away," said Riccardo RX Tomahawck, the orchestra's leader.
The opening ceremony, which will also be available to buy TICKETS(https://hoff.ee/film/20-hffi-avamine-the-tomahawck-brothers-ja-pnevusfilm-surfar/) from today, will take place on 1st of May at 18:00 at the Haapsalu Cultural Centre.
Expect shocking surprises.
The festival's opening film, the thriller "Surfar", starring Oscar winner Nicolas Cage, who continues to make unexpected choices, will also be an exceptional experience.
A man returns to the idyllic beach of his childhood to surf with his son. But he is humiliated by a group of aggressive locals, and the encounter triggers a conflict that gradually builds to a breaking point in the brutal heat of summer.

There will be an auction of items from Estonian films in support of Ukraine.
Multitalent Mart Sander will host the evening. The ceremony will be preceded by a free procession starting at 17:00, traditionally featuring all sorts of fantastic creatures.
